Our History

The Audi Club of South Africa (ACSA) The idea of a Club was conceived by a group of Audi enthusiasts who were posting on the Audi-Sport.Net Bulletin Board at that time and with this common interest in the Audi brand of car, the Audi Club of SA came to life. This was way back in December 2001.
The following were posting on the forum during that time: AVDHS6/S3 This is the page where the idea of the club started, and the rest is history , as they say in the classics........ The club had their first official outing on the 9th March 2002 and the venue was the Jackson Diner on William Nicol Drive. Andre Van Den Heuvel was the first Chairman of Audi Club SA. The topics of discussion were, the formation of the club, a club website, promotion of the club, sponsorship, membership fees and the next meeting at the Rainbow ¼ mile track in Alberton on 21st March 2002. It goes without saying that the main (and most interesting) topic of discussion were the cars...! It may not seem like much, but at least it's a beginning. The KZN Chapter of ACSA
The Kwa-Zulu Natal Chapter (KZN) had it's first official club outing on the 14th September 2003. The group met at the Pavilion Shopping Centre and travelled in Convoy to the venue, Assagay Country Hotel, and some 10 Audi's turned up for the first of many club outings. Des Brown and Thierry Kesselaar were the first committee members of KZN and the club went from strength to strength. During 2004 KZN decided to become a regional chapter of the Audi Club SA and a separate website (Audisport) was developed that concentrated purely on their local activities. In December 2004 Des decided to step down. Thierry was re-elected for a second term in office with Deepesh Soni as the KZN Chapter Committee member and Laurie Caldwell as the KZN Chapter Secretary. Since September 2003 the KZN Chapter has had at least one club event per month and these events are well supported by the passionate members of the KZN Chapter.

AudiSport SA was formed in May of 2006 by the KZN Chapter's enthusiasts who decided to go on their own. - Our Mission Statement - AudiSport SA is to enhance the Audi ownership experience of our members by driver/safety education and providing technical and maintenance tips, product information, parts discounts, free classified ads for members and to promote camaraderie through regional/national activities and events. One of the main aims of the club is to be able to provide support and friendship and respect to members of the club and each other when it comes to the well being of the Audi. The club quickly established itself with a fast growing user base, not only that, the members are enthusiastic, helpful, knowledgeable, friendly and passionate about what they do and their cars --- This is something we constantly strive for, and the club is proud of the enthusiasm, passion, friendship and respect among the membership ranks. From day one, ALL enthusiast's were welcomed- regardless of which model (if any!), age and condition of the car they owned. (This excludes members that do not embrace the above policy)- Our Club members travel far and wide for events and meetings. Our most distant members currently resides in Johannesburg; Cars owned by members currently covers just about everything with an Audi badge manufactured from the late 70's to current day machinery- standard and modified, new old- there is no "class" structure or elitism among our members- thankfully! Driving Skills: A number of Driving Skills Events are held throughout the year. Members challenge themselves by putting their cars through their paces around cones which map out the Autocross circuit. No pressure is placed on drivers and they participate in the events at their own pace. Drivers learn and improve their skills and handling capabilities. These events have proved to be very popular. Social Runs: Numerous Social events are held throughout the year to suit a wide variety of tastes. From Sunday Breakfast Runs to Mystery runs followed by lunch, the club tries its best to cater for all. We have an event at least once a month. These comprise a scenic drive through to a venue where members enjoy a lunch or brunch with good company and good conversation. The club is now run by the club members and 95% of them were part of the original crowd, - the KZN Chapter - all are enthusiastic about AudiSport SA. Thierry has retired from the club committee as Chairman. He has been actively involved since 2001 and serving as Chairman since 2003.
